The Annual Mamelodi Easter Tournament has come and gone and what a success it was. The opening ceremony was at 8:00am at the Mamelodi Beer Hall. There were two sections one consisting of juniors the other seniors. In the senior section there was only one pool for the ladies that included the defending champions (Tuks Ladies) who were grouped with four teams; three from Mamelodi and one from the Vaal.

Tuks Ladies defend their title

Yet again the Tuks Ladies had a brilliant tournament winning all their games and playing in the final against the Vaal Waritors, beating them by 30 points, defending their championship and winning the prize money.

Experience wins the day

In the men’s senior section, two pools that consisted of four teams in each including a visiting team from Botswana and the “PBL’s” Egoli Magics that made it through to the finals where they met up with SA Captain Neo Mothiba who played for Randoms. After four heated quarters, the game went into an over time where Egoli won the tournament 100-95. The Tuks men’s team were no where to be seen in this tournament as they lost in the quarter finals.

The tournament was quite an experience and gave all the teams an opportunity to prepare for the up coming season and preparations for the SASSU tournament that will be taking place in June at the University of Cape Town. Report by Nthabiseng Mushi.
