The DHS team took two quarters to shake off the Friday night blues, before they started playing basketball. The Westville team has been built on their successful U16A team from 2007, while they still young and relatively inexperienced, they put up a good fight in the first three quarters. The DHS big men dominated inside the paint once again but allowed Westville too many offensive rebounds in the first two quarters. Westville never challenged DHS defensively and they were able to score at will, but still missed too many easy baskets. Westville sat in a zone and did not budge as DHS picked it apart possession after possession. They finally decided to change out of the zone to a man to man defense in the dieing minutes of the game. The first quarter ended with DHS up 23 – 09 and the half time score was 42 – 15 in the blue and gold’s favor. Westville struggled with the DHS press and aggressive man to man defense. There are still too many periods where the DHS subs come off the bench and the level of intensity drops and the opposition is allowed back into the game. The third quarter saw DHs up 58 – 23 and the Westville team beginning to wilt as their coach was forced to look to his bench.

The fourth quarter saw the DHS team catch fire and resulted in a great team effort which saw DHS wall away fro the quarter 47 – 7 victors. There is much to be improved on but the team is showing patched of inspired basketball, perhaps the little loss to the vets by three points has woken them out of their slumber and rekindled their fighting spirit.
