PBHS results at St Johns 2008

March 24, 2008 in Gauteng, High School

Over the weekend of the 1-2 March 2008, Pretoria Boys High School (PBHS) took part in the St Johns Tournament. The tournament was divided into 2 pools of 4 teams. In pool A, there was St Benedict, St Johns 1st, King Edward School (KES), SACS and in pool B, there was Durban High School (DHS), PBHS, St Johns 2nd, Rondebosch Boys High.

PBHS started the tournament by beating Rondebosch 49-19 which gave them great confidence going into their second game against their much fancied opponents DHS. PBHS with a very young and inexperienced team expected DHS to blow them off the court but in the end there was only 11 points between the sides with DHS taking it 48-37. After that result, the PBHS coaches felt confident of being able to compete in the DHS annual basketball tournament. The last game of the pool was against St Johns 2nd team and PBHS made easy work of them with a resounding victory of 51-12. After the pool games, PBHS advanced to the semi-finals where they faced the eventual winners St Benedict and they lost 51-46. PBHS finished 3rd overall in the tournament. They now prepare for the American International School of Johannesburg annual basketball tournament and the DHS tournament. We will keep you posted about their progress.

In 2007 after getting frustrated at the lack of information about the game he loved in South Africa, Victor decided to start Mybasketball and he hasn't looked back. For close to 15 years, Victor has experienced the game as a player, a coach, a spectator and now from a media perspective. The whole purpose of Mybasketball is to keep the fans informed about the game and anything related to it; whether it is here in SA, Africa or Overseas. Victor has made some great friends along the way and rekindled some amazing friendships through the game.. Some of those friends have joined him on this crusade to make basketball better for everyone, and he looks forward to a South Africa where basketball gets the credit it deserves and the focus is on youth development and improving the coaches.
