Heats Fire Almost Put Out
Putos Phly a new team in the basketball island met up with Pretoria’s very own Pretoria Heat, who came geared up and ready, armed with S.A Captain Neo Mothiba. Putos were also armed; with players like the brothers Lucky and Kgomotso Leate and team mates Kamogelo Kegoatile aka Angola and ex UJ player S’fiso Twala; ready to face The Heat (so we thought)… With Lucky’s 3 pointers not sinking in the first half and the team ending the first quarter with a score of 22-7; there seemed to be no hope for the young lads.
In the third quarter, show time started when Lucky made a come back by shooting 3 three’s in a row, one being in the face of Mr S.A Captain himself. It looked like the team was making progress till Neo averaged their efforts with 29 points (10 defensive rebounds, 7 offensive rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and making all 10 of his free throws) verifying The Heat’s lead and making it hard for the young Kats to get back in the game. Though Putos was behind by 15 points in the first quarter; they ended the third quarter with a score of 38-50 (Pretoria Heat leading) a very good come back from the “Phly boys”. Pretoria Heat still managed to capitalize regardless as they ended the game with a score of 57-66.
