The City of Johannesburg is hosting Slam Da Trash Fest, a sport and culture youth festival aimed at creating awareness and promoting the city’s clean-up campaign. The event will be held in Newtown on 28th June 2008.

The event is based on Newtown Battlegrounds, an ongoing project of the Newtown Management District, produced in association with DarkChild Productions. The festival’s programme will be as follows:

1.Basketball clinics

2.Krump (hip hop dance) workshops with interested kids

3.Street theatre

4.Feature basketball match between the two giants of the basketball League called LOP (League of Pros): Egoli Magic vs. Wits Alumni

5.Krump/Dance battles between established groups

6.Hip Hop performances by some of the top Hip Hop artists in the likes of HH, PRO, Proverb & Jr.

Slam Da Trash Fest……It’s my Inner City, Keep it Clean
