On the Men’s side, Australia won the gold medal, defeating Canada with a final score of 72-60. The win was significant for Australia considering that Canada led for much of the match. Australia had a balanced attack, with three players scoring 16 or more points and all but one of their players in the points. (Scoresheet)

Great Britain won the bronze over the USA, defeating them by a margin of 85-77 behind a fantastic 32 points by Terence Bywater. (Scoresheet)

After qualifying twelfth out of twelve teams, the South African Mens Wheelchair Basketball team finished up tenth. South Africa was defeated by Brazil in the 9th/10th place match as Brazil proved to be the better team on the day, winning 68-46. (Scoresheet) Congratulations to the team for giving it their all and doing us proud!

Women

In the Women’s basketball, the USA beat Germany convincingly for the gold medal (50-38), having been behind after the first quarter. Like the Australian men’s performance, the attack was also quite balanced. (Scoresheet)

In the bronze medal match, Australia’s women showed their mettle by defeating Japan 53-47, with three players in double figures. Australia dominated the paint to take the last remaining medal. (Scoresheet)
