GBL: Wits Alumni crush Braam. Blues – 15/03/2009

By on March 20, 2009 in League

During the second game of the evening, Alumni underestimated the Blues in the first period of the game. With Tshiamo Ngakane’s experience and Nathi’s young blood, there was definitely nothing to underestimate causing Alumni to start playing the game of basketball. Maieane Nkhahle “The Go To Guy” who was unstoppable back in the day when he use to play for Wits, was back wearing the jersey number 10 for Alumni. Though he wasn’t much of an asset this past Sunday, word is he will soon get his “A Game” up and this includes “Black Mountain” Steve Oseghale who could be the Shaq of GBL this season if coach Maepa works on him… A WHOLE LOT!

Mboshi Ronunu, well what more can we say about the brother. He never disappoints. Mboshi has been consistent since day one and is still going strong. 21 points! Can he go bigger than that? It’s still early days. We’ll be watching…

It was very evident that the Blues were still getting use to playing together so we won’t write them off just yet. It will be interesting to see how these teams do against the University ones. We asked Tsakane Ngobeni if he thinks the University teams will be a problem and according to him, “the University teams are just warm up games leading to the Championship rounds…”

“Hmmm…” Now that comment isn’t going to make a lot of coaches very happy; responsibility is up to the students to show what’s really good. With so much basketball going around, weekends will never be the same again! Catch the next games on Thursday evening at Wits hall 29, where Wits hosts UJ ladies and Wits Alumni plays Wits University. Final score: Wits Alumni 74 – Braam. Blues 62

Next up for Wits Alumni is Wits University at Wits on Thursday 19 March…
