There’s an event happening this Saturday (4 April) at John Orr Technical High, there will be various guest artists participating. Read more for rest of the info…

The Johannesburg Junior Council is an organization based on youth empowerment and involvement. Last year alone we had numerous successful events which include the Kid’s Carnival which was held at K.E.S, the Arts and Culture fashion show which was at Tokyo sky, we assisted with the 702 Walk the Talk, Masters of Rhythm and numerous other charity events.

Reality is, most of the youth do not know who we are, and considering we are for the youth, we need them to know who we are and what we are capable of doing. My (Olebgeng Pitsoe) committee (Marketing) has come up with a good strategy to get the youth excited and knowing about council. This event (HEAD 2 HEAD) will involve high schools (10-15) which will challenge each other in sports such as basketball, soccer and dancing from 10:00-17:00. This will be set out in a way that everything will be running at the same time (exclude. Dancing which will be the finale). All the schools will bring only 6 players per sport entered. The cost per ticket will be R20,00 and proceeds will go to charity (Kids Alive). The scheduled date for this event is the 4th of April 2009. This event will take place at John Orr Technical High School.

We have MacG (Yfm), Mo flava (Yfm), Pro (artist), Nike, Coca-Cola, Darkchild, and SA flyer on board. We are working in association with GSBC (Gauteng Schools Basketball Conferences), Joburg basketball and The City of Joburg.

In 2007 after getting frustrated at the lack of information about the game he loved in South Africa, Victor decided to start Mybasketball and he hasn't looked back. For close to 15 years, Victor has experienced the game as a player, a coach, a spectator and now from a media perspective. The whole purpose of Mybasketball is to keep the fans informed about the game and anything related to it; whether it is here in SA, Africa or Overseas. Victor has made some great friends along the way and rekindled some amazing friendships through the game.. Some of those friends have joined him on this crusade to make basketball better for everyone, and he looks forward to a South Africa where basketball gets the credit it deserves and the focus is on youth development and improving the coaches.
