Keep believing and playing the game because…
When they see Vusi Mgobozi, to run as fast as they can cause he will hinder their basketball progress.

In my life, i still apply the three D’s i learnt from basketball..a young baskeball player should have Dedication, Determination and Discipline in order to achieve their full potential.

What I would focus on to grow the game of basketball in South Africa
We seriously in need of a Proffessional Basketball League and Campus Basketball League. Our kids need proffessional athletes to emulate as role models in order to entice them to come play the game. After high school there’s nothing to look forward to in terms of basketball. These can be the draw card to extend the basketball family country wide.

The best advice I ever got about playing the game
see the latter answer…

Basketball icon Michael Jordan told me”whether its a friendly or an official game, when stepping on a court you must always give your outmost best cause you never know who might be watching”…i still do.

Why I love basketball
I love basketball cause it has transformed my life.If it wasnt for basketball i could have been another statistic in gang related activites in the streets of Gugulethu and the surrounding areas.I love basketball cause it has given me knowledge, power and wisdom.I wouldnt have achieve what i have, if it wasn’t for basketball. That’s why I love basketball.

Head over to The ‘Hood and connect with Vince.

If there’s someone on The ‘Hood you’d like to know more about, get them to fill out this form and maybe you’ll see them up here sometime.

Darren spent many years playing basketball in Pretoria, searching out every possible way to gain extra inches on his vertical in order to disprove the theory that white men can't jump. After being distracted by the corporate world for several years, Darren returned to the game he loves to contribute in some way to its' future. Darren firmly believes we will see basketball in its rightful place as one of the top sports in South Africa, and that one of the keys to doing so is seeing information about the game made easily accessible to everyone. This is why he is now part of the MyBasketball team.
