Information supplied by Lunga Ntuli and edited by Victor Shakineza

In 2007 after getting frustrated at the lack of information about the game he loved in South Africa, Victor decided to start Mybasketball and he hasn't looked back. For close to 15 years, Victor has experienced the game as a player, a coach, a spectator and now from a media perspective. The whole purpose of Mybasketball is to keep the fans informed about the game and anything related to it; whether it is here in SA, Africa or Overseas. Victor has made some great friends along the way and rekindled some amazing friendships through the game.. Some of those friends have joined him on this crusade to make basketball better for everyone, and he looks forward to a South Africa where basketball gets the credit it deserves and the focus is on youth development and improving the coaches.

  1. ZekeO says:

Is BSA going to open the door to some of the GP players?

  2. sipho says:

good question Zeke – I’m too am curious!

  3. Tha Bloz says:

The team selected at the national champs was just a formality, a team is always existing with tried & tested players

  4. kim says:

    I like your answer Bloz…lol.

  5. kim says:

I aint no rocket scientist but all the worries about the national team setup are becoming crazy now…PLEASE!!!Just recieved a message from a famous facebook also worried about this. One should realize that a squad would be selected at the Seniors but obviously the national team coaches would consider players that couldnt make the championships.A good example would be the 2008 Seniors held in Alice.Brenda and Kita didnt attend but where both appointed as coaches.Tsakane, Tshilidzi,Q,Chris etc didn’t attend seniors but those players were invited to camps prior to Libya.

I then get a sense that just because players and coaches didn’t make seniors does not necessarily mean that they wont be considered for the national team.I don’t see how both coaches would choose a squad of 13/14 to select a final 12…doesn’t make sense so I hope we are ok now.IF it happens that the coaches don’t invite the other players to the camp then I am calling RAS DUMSANI to tell him where to get some potent herbs ;-) .

Just worried that no 24 second clock featured this time around even though the clocks where available……What the heck, there is nothing better than experiencing the clock at the championships on the world stage…..Brings the best out of you!I think!Compliments my bballers…
I hope we have an intriguing basketball year..AS ALWAYS….The Days of Our Lives.

  6. ET says:

Finally sumone includes lucky for the number one spot. I think we need sumone who is quick strong, agressive and deadly on the 3 ball ( not to mention this guy can shoot off of picks and can create own shot).Hope he makes it thru tha final trim since thats inevitable……..

  7. Joe says:

Maybe we should change the naming of the team chosen at the nationals to avoid confusion. Instead of callling it a National team rather we call it Team of the Tournament?

  8. kim says:

SA squad is just right for me cos its a squad.ET….lucky is a great shooter.I also hope he gets a shot at international ball.He has worked hard day in day out…I hope he also starts working hard to play the PG position so that he brings a different dimension as well.

  9. TD Nyc says:

Well said Kim, alhough I would like to differ just a little bit there with you. See Basketball is SA is not played as regular as other places and thus coaches do not have enough time to look at the strengths and weaknesses of each player. Thus tournaments such as the snr champs is a good place for national team coaches to really have a look at the players and thus analyse them effectively as they play a few games. This would give the coaches some insight into each and every player. In the situation like ours this is important since the national team doesn’T get enough camp time and currently we are not playing the best of basketball compared to other african teams. I hope I don”t sound too negative.

  10. I suppose this gives other players a chance to see where they feature without GP in there.

    Compliments ballers

  11. Oh by the way, i am very happy for Lucky, he truly deserves it, probably one of the most under rated players in SA

  12. kim says:

hahahaha….Cabby!Saw some great NEW talent and VETERANS at these games as well and I hope ALL provinces realize already now in January that Chances are EXTREMELY high that we will have seniors this year.So who ever is responsible for getting the teams there…..please do your job.The board should come out clear regarding seniors and all national tournaments as to what is the responsibilities of the provinces and that of BasketballSA…

  13. Bloz says:

    Kim

What happened to Free State Team last year coz as far as i know de team was selected to attend the IPT.

  14. Joe says:

Question is: what is BSA doing to ensure that Provinces are prepared to participate in IPT?

  15. kim says:

    Right question wrong platform!!!

  16. Joe says:

Actually, I am hoping that ballers will remind their Provinces to tackle this issue in the upcoming BSA general meeting. Ooops just jumped the gun there : )

  17. kim says:

:) ….There is going to be a general meeting?Thats nice dont you think. This year is going to be nice mos.

  18. Joe says:

I will reserve my judgement untill after the meeting as I am hoping that the meeting will not be just another going through the motions exercise.

  19. kim says:

Thats much much better than going a year without meeting.Atleast people will get to see the board members. There will be an agenda and stuff will be discussed…hahahaha.Thats a very good start.150% for effort. The quality after that is another issue…

  20. Joe says:

For me an unproductive meeting is a pointless waste of money and time. If no constructive discussion will take place, sommer send the report instead.

  21. kim says:

hahahaha……Compliance is needed, come on Joe……hahahaha.I agree with you my man,am just joking. One will not know whether it will be productive or not so the start will be getting a meeting hence am actually happy for the future of basketball.;-)

  22. Joe says:

For the future of basketball to be a happy one, it is critical that all bball administrators at all levels understand their role in the acountability chain. I have always maintained that arrogant leaders thrive when leading ignorant followers.

I hope that in the new year as lovers of bball we all take it upon ourselves to be knowledgeable about sport administration and therefore hold our leaders accountable. I really hope that we will stop waiting for a fault to occur then shout after the effect.

    Let the game begin.

  23. Ayzie says:

well the squad was selected and where are they going to play and why select a squad that does not even go to camp or national tour?????

  24. kim says:

    Ayzie
Why do you think they wont camp or tour?

  25. baller says:

    Access to information is power.
