St Peter’s College Sport and Cultural Festival – 17 to 19 September
St Peter’s College Sport and Cultural festival was founded in 2002. This year’s festival, the seventh, is being held on the 17th, 18th and 19th of September 2010.
The festival offers a unique mix of sports and cultural events and is arguably the largest high school sports and cultural festival in the country.
It attracts a diverse learner population from previously disadvantaged schools, former Model C schools as well as independent schools.
The festival attracts some 40 schools comprising over 100 teams and has the participation of approximately 1,500 children and of course their spectators each day in the three day programme.
Participating schools come from Cape Town, Durban, Nelspruit, Mafikeng, Bloemfontein, Pietermaritzburg, Pretoria, and East London and as far afield as Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
Some of the activities which have been included in the past are:
- Soccer for boys and girls
- Basketball for boys and girls
- Netball
- Dance and music
- Debate
- Poetry
- Visual arts
- Performing arts
