BNL Standings – Week 2

By on June 22, 2014 in BNL

Week 2 of the BNL didn’t disappoint as the weekend action delivered scoring, drama and last-minute excitement.

With a few name changes happening, we included the old Mbombela Wildcats in last weeks update rather than their new name, the Mpumalanga Rhinos. This has been corrected below, apologies to the Rhinos.

In case you missed the details of the reshuffling of teams since last season, BBallMagSA has a good post detailing the changes.

Also causing a stir this weekend was the drama surrounding the Duzi Royals two American players who were not allowed to participate due to work permit issues. This was such a big problem that BNL had to put out a release to clarify the situation. As painful as it is, it’s good to see the BNL making the right decision to stick to the regulations. What is a real pity though its that all this seemed to come to light just before the game, making you wonder why it wasn’t cleared up before the day’s play if it really was such an important issue. Hopefully we’ll see those players on the court soon – it seems the crowd just can’t wait!

As if to put those memories to rest, the Royals also provided a spectacular finish to the weekend by not just somehow avoiding defeat, but overtime too as they made the last few seconds of their game against the Marlins memorable for everyone who saw it and pulled of an incredible win.

Following Week 2 of action, the standings are as follows:
