The following are the standings for the primary schools after two rounds of round robin play:

Boys Division

1. Solms Delta                        110 points

2. Simondium Primary       97 points

3. P.C. Petereson                  82 points

4. Pniel Primary                    60 points

5. Franschhoek HS               52 points

6. Paarl School of Skills      46 points

7. Groendal Primary            35 points

Girls

1. PC Peterson                                                       141 points

2. Simondium Primary                                       38 points

3. Pniel Primary                                                    16 points

Results from the Kayamandi Classic

Paarl School of skills, lead by tournament Most Valuable Player, Lowen Solomons, beat Paulus Jobert, Ligstraal and Kayamandi to win an exciting tournament held.

At Paarlzicht Primary on Saturday, May 8th. Kayamandi came 2nd place and Paulus Jobert finished in the 3rd spot. The tournament victory raises the Paarl School of Skills record to 7-0  this season as they sit on top of the Winelands Basketball League Silver Division. Lowen’s 3 months of basketball training in the USA in 2009 seemed to have paid off as he stole the show on Saturday averaging 20 points per game for the day.

ABC and few volounteers will be offering Basketball and life skills clinics to kids from various area.

‘The future lies in their hands and it’s our responsability to give them the best we have to make them better person tomorrow’ says Emmanuel MAVOMO

Everyone who likes to have good time on sunday playing or watching  basketball is cordially invited to join the clinics that starts from 1200hrs to 1400hrs or come and show their skils ater 1400hrs.

The sessions will be spiced up by Dj, dancers and performers.
Tagging on walls and breakdancers are also part of the events.
Barbecue and drinks area are available.

The league ran from January to March 2008. The following age groups participated: u14 boys and girls, u/16 boys and girls and u/19 boys and girls. It was a great school basketball season and all boys matches were played on a Wednesday while the girls played on a Tuesday.

Results

U/14 girls – Montevideo beat Linge in the final.
U/14 boys- Linge beat SACS in the final.

U/16 girls  – Heideveld Secondary School beat Linge in the final. This was a very close encounter but Heideveld went undefeated in this season by beating Linge 42 – 38 in the final.
U/16 boys- Heideveld Secondary School beat Reddam House High School by 20 points in the final.

U/19 girls -  Pinelands high school ended on top of the log.(League format)
U/19 boys – Defending Champions Heideveld Secondary School defeated Bishops College in a close encounter final match. The teams were head to head from the start to the finish. Final score was 56-39. Heideveld undefeated the entire season, defended their title succesfully.

Western Cape schools basketball are now preparing the u/17 Western Cape provincial school basketball team (Boys and Girls) to compete in the All  Ages Games  to be held in Pretoria.

Next basketball season starts in the 4th term.
