This past Friday, I made my way to the UCT basketball courts where I was served up an entertaining evening of basketball. It started with the impressive performance of the ladies with UCT representing on their home court with a one sided win; this was followed up with what was supposed to be the decider between CPUT and UWC. The winner of the game would be assured of a place in the USSA tournament to be held in KZN later this year. Continue reading »

Please be informed via this notice that USSA NEC at its meeting on the 12/13 February 2010 has approved our request to hold the trials for to select a team to represent USSA at the CUCSA games in Botswana from the 01 – 10 July 2010.
Therefore, this is an invitation to you to send your best players that you think can make the national team. Also all players who were in the national team last year are invited to trial out this year as well.

CHRISTMAS came early for the province of Kwazulu-Natal after hosting such a successful tournament and the men’s team being crowned as the new champions of the Basketball South Africa Senior Championship, last Friday at Durban University of Technology in Durban.
The KZN men’s team won this tournament after battling it out with Limpopo in the finals that was packed at the Varsity by 64- 55. At first it seemed as if the home team was going to lose this match as at some stage Limpopo were trailing by 31-29 end of the first half. But with the KZN boys fully understanding that leading doesn’t mean you have won and that it not about how you start that matters but how you finish, this saw them coming back in hot form to clinch this victory.
