The Lakers and Celtics are making this an NBA Finals to be remembered, with it currently tied up at two games each.

But the other story rivalling this at the moment is the upcoming NBA free agent sweepstakes, starting 1 July 2010, when an incredible group of free agents including LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Amare Stoudemire will become available to other teams.

The NBA and the World Cup, a match made in heaven?

What does the NBA have in common with soccer’s FIFA World Cup taking place this year in South Africa?

Your guess is as good as ours, but SLAMOnline has ventured to find the link between the two – South Africa is certainly gonna be “where amazing happens”.

In their article, “Cup Comparisons”, they compare the NBA teams to the different countries taking part in the World Cup, noting the favourites for the tournament to be Brazil, Spain, England, Italy and Germany.

Larry OBrien_001It is amazing how time flies; I cannot believe that we are already at the NBA’s conference Finals.  Few people would have imagined that some of the teams that are still in the running would actually still be active at this time.  I think that it especially comes as a shock, perhaps, that the Cleveland Cavaliers have again failed to reach the NBA finals.  This has brought the basketball world to stand and pay close attention to LeBron’s offseason, as many people would like to know if he will move or stay with his hometown Cavaliers.  More on this later.
