Here is a list of winners for the 2010 season from the various divisions in the WCBA.

Attached is the list of players invited to the WCBA senior trials for the Senior IPT to be held in Cape Town from 13 to 18 December 2010. Please inform the players of your club of their inclusion. Round up…

Men’s Super League: CPUT vs. Vets

It went down to the wire in this one but CPUT did more than enough to be crowned champions for 2010. The first game loss was a wake up call and the players heeded the call. The Vets must be congratulated for their efforts and for keeping the younger generation honest by fighting to the last game and the last whistle. Final score: CPUT 67 – 60 Vets. Continue reading »

WCBA 2010 Men Final – Vets vs. CPUT

WCBA league: Vikings trash UWC by a ton

If you had the opportunity to watch UWC play over the last few years they would have given you hope that they were making progress in the right direction.  But this year, their team doesn’t look like they have the energy, passion or commitment to compete with the likes of Montana Vikings, who showed that they are in a class of their own.

In a game that was marred by countless mistakes from both teams, the team with the better quality and sound game plan came out on top. Vikings were never in danger of losing this contest. If this was a boxing match, UWC would have thrown in the towel in the first round. Continue reading »

With women in basketball soaring the skies and flying the South African flag high;its sad that hats are not coming off for our talented sisters. From being left in the dark in the old days to dominating the national side of basketball recently, to now having qualified for the African Championship that will be held in Madagascar later this year…

Taking a look at the team that went to Zimbabwe for the qualifiers; most of the players are University students playing in the USSA tournament. Fact: In 2005, Turkey World Student Games, the Mzansi ladies underperformed; denying them the opportunity to play in the 2008 World Student Games. Granted they didn’t do well in Turkey, so it was “acceptable” that they would miss the Thailand Games; but why aren’t they going to Serbia later this year?

This is the training squad (picture above) that will represent the nation at the world student games in Serbia in July from the 1st to the 12. They will be led by University of Johannesburg assistant coach Molupe Thelejane and University of Western Cape Quinton Rapitse and managed by Frans Mamabolo, who is the new chairperson of USSA and comes from the University of Cape Town.
