Men’s Super League: CPUT vs. Vets

It went down to the wire in this one but CPUT did more than enough to be crowned champions for 2010. The first game loss was a wake up call and the players heeded the call. The Vets must be congratulated for their efforts and for keeping the younger generation honest by fighting to the last game and the last whistle. Final score: CPUT 67 – 60 Vets. Continue reading »

WCBA 2010 Men Final – Vets vs. CPUT

By Victor Shakineza WCBA Comments Off

In what is fast becoming the story of the season, Vets have gone and done it again by upsetting CPUT in Game 1 of the WCBA final. WCBA league: Vikings trash UWC by a ton

By Victor Shakineza WCBA Comments Off

If you had the opportunity to watch UWC play over the last few years they would have given you hope that they were making progress in the right direction.  But this year, their team doesn’t look like they have the energy, passion or commitment to compete with the likes of Montana Vikings, who showed that they are in a class of their own.

In a game that was marred by countless mistakes from both teams, the team with the better quality and sound game plan came out on top. Vikings were never in danger of losing this contest. If this was a boxing match, UWC would have thrown in the towel in the first round. Continue reading »

This past Friday, I made my way to the UCT basketball courts where I was served up an entertaining evening of basketball. It started with the impressive performance of the ladies with UCT representing on their home court with a one sided win; this was followed up with what was supposed to be the decider between CPUT and UWC. The winner of the game would be assured of a place in the USSA tournament to be held in KZN later this year. Continue reading »

USSA Western Cape Qualifiers – 19 March 2010

By Victor Shakineza USSA Comments Off

UWC VS UCT

21 consecutive points for Captain Fantastic,F Marais (UWC #8), sealed a dramatic game of two halves as UCT goes down for the first time during the USSA Western Cape 2010 Qualifiers. All those who did not have the opportunity to watch the game,I am sorry bafethu.

I have seen Neo ‘The Matrix’ Mothiba, Q Denyssen, Thabo ‘Spiderman’ Letsebe and even Lesego ‘I got game’ Molebatsi taking over a game. The ‘Matrix’ would just end everything with his famous ‘its over’ action just to top it off. Unfortunately none of those SA players heroics could have come close to what F Marais had in store for the ouma’s and oupas that came to support UWC. Continue reading »

No dancers, No pumping Hip-hop sounds just straight up balling was the name of the game when USSA Western Cape was hosting its second week of USSA qualifiers matches at the UCT Indoor sports hall. With fans eagerly awaiting the University of Cape Town (UCT) versus Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) games, the University of the Western Cape and CPUT Bellville were creating a epic battle on court 2.

University of the Western Cape vs Cape Peninsula University of Technology (Bellville Campus)

UWC was coming out for the first time during these qualifiers and the fans where at hand to welcome them. The first Men section game pitted Coach Q Rapitse’s UWC vs CPUT Panthers. Coach Mokoena’s CPUT Panthers where hoping for a better performance after losing to their CPUT rivals and where eager to prove to their Bellville neighbours that they were no pushover’s. CPUT came out guns blazing, making sure that they brought energy that they lacked during their previous game. Continue reading »
