St Albans College vs. Willowridge High School in the Open boys division

This game was crucial to both teams as the winner would top the pool and go into the playoffs unbeaten. Both teams wanted to make a statement of intent on the opposition ahead of the semis and finals this week. Willowridge have had some good results this year and were out to show that all wasn’t just hype by pitting themselves against a College team not short on confidence and with a good track record at home. Willowridge 1st team has recruited 3 players from the Bees basketball club and their contribution cannot be underestimated in the resurgence of the school in the league standings this year. High School ball weekend review….

Pretoria Boys High School (PBHS) vs. The Glen High School (TGHS) at under 16 boys’ level

What a show!!! PBHS came into the game unbeaten and on a roll but TGHS playing on their home court were eager to exact some punishment on the visitors. PBHS looked to be more balanced in terms of their team, with good guards and posts. With the crowd building up, PBHS were warming up with dunks hoping to intimidate their opponents while TGHS made a late entrance on the court to make the visitors a tad anxious. After a 1st half dominated by bad refereeing decision, PBHS were up by 2 points. TGHS were relying on their number 14 guard, Ronald Moroleni who was having a blinder. Read the rest of this entry →

Pretoria High School league low down

The Pretoria School’s league started with a lot of enthusiasm. There was new leadership and new vision.

General

The new committee started off with changes in the league format. The format which the league had been using for the past 10 years was put aside and the new format put in place. The main issue was that the Centralised venues denied other schools the opportunity to host league matches as all matches were hosted by PBHS, PHSG and St Mary’s DSG. The main reason for this centralized venues was that, the schools were central and were previously the only schools who could host a great number of matches in a single weekend.
