South Africa is proud to host the 2011 FIBA (Federation Internationale Basketball Association) Africa Zone VI Club Championship (sponsored by ESPN) from November 14th to 21st, 2011 at the Mandeville Sports Club (near Eastgate Shopping Center). This will also present an opportune occasion to officially launch the NBA Africa office and the introduction of BBall, a new lifestyle television show on SABC1 on Saturday afternoons. Johannesburg to Host Basketball Experience for Top High School Players

Since the beginning Africa has been a huge target for the adidas grassroots projects.Three players that are currently playing the NBA have grown up using our program todevelop and get exposure for the highest level of competition.Milwaukee Buck’s Luc Richard Mbah a Moute from Cameroon andWashington Wizards Hamady N’diaye from Senegal are good examples of adidasvalues and work ethic. But none of them symbolizes more the adidas Nations projectthan Okhlahoma Thunder’s Serge Ibaka from RD Congo. Serge ibaka opened everybody’seyes on the African huge talent, and its natural ‘giving back’ approach with younger kids.He was discovered at the camp and was picked in the first round of the NBA draft the following year.

Emmanuel Mavomo,  Developer of African Basketball Community —  announced the roster for the  annual adidas Nations Africa, the premier international grassroots basketball program. adidas Nations will take place at the University of Johannesburg, soweto campus  June 15-18, with a High profile Exhibition game opposing African pro International to the South african National team, June 18 at 4:30 p.m. @ the Arena of the University of Johannesburg, soweto campus. GUBL 2011: Institutions prepare to combat idleness

Pretoria, Gauteng- 25/03/2011. Each year Institutions from all over South Africa battle it out to be crowned the USSA national champions of basketball. To prepare the Gauteng teams and better equip them for the competition that lies ahead, the Institutions have decided to come together to form a league that will serve as the qualifiers where 4 Gauteng teams will be sent to WITS, where the annual tournament will be held.
