WPBA League Finals 2013
So it’s game 1 of the best of three in the WPBA League finals 2013 with the senior part of the championship in both men’s and ladies dominated by CPUT with both men’s teams in the final and the CPUT ladies coming up against the Lethal Ladies. In the previous round the CPUT Cats overcame Montana Vikings in what was a “final” before the final and what turned out to be a team effort from the students against a Vikings team that had been preparing for the playoffs throughout the year. The Vikings will be disappointed not to have achieved their goal of another trophy this year but they will work harder to fix this next year. In the other semi, CPUT Alumni flexed their muscles and used their experience to run out winners against a UCT team that kept it close in the 1st quarter but were overrun in the last 3 quarters. So the stage is set for a CPUT students vs. Alumni final with the first game taking place at the neutral venue in Belhar, Cape Town.
In the ladies section, Lethal Ladies used their experience and great shooting to make it to the finals for the first time. With this team only formed this year, it is already an amazing achievement and they will face a CPUT team built to compete at the highest level. A team brimming with a mixture of youth and experienced players under the tutelage of Coach Kimathi. This will be an interesting final with the neutrals looking for a good contest. CPUT have the height advantage but the Lethal Ladies have the guards to compete with any team and they soot the ball pretty well.
In the Junior program, Montana Vikings, Cape Waves and Cathkin rookies dominate and we are creating the heroes of the future by supporting and encouraging this part of the league.
