Old School meets New school

May 19, 2008 in League, News

After Saturday’s awesome performance by the All Star Basketball players at the Celebrity Extravaganza, who would have thought that the GBA League would show case something so special? Once again The University of Pretoria hosted some basketball action inside their dome on Sunday the 18th of May. Some of the games that were on are as follows:

· Tuks 2 ladies vs. Charioters

· Tuks 2 Men’s vs. VUT 1 Men

· Tuks 1 Ladies vs. VUT Ladies

· UJ 1 Ladies vs. Bees

After experiencing some load shedding; VUT Alumni played Tuks men’s 1st team (Old School versus New School). In red and white for the Alumni team; Flosh Ngwenya and Vusi Dlamini were some of the oldies that were kitted up facing young kats like South Africa’s upcoming Benedict Ramakau who had an awesome game, scoring 21 points in the game and playing hard defense against Nyakalo Nthuping of the SA team.

After the teams drew in the 1st quarter 25-25, it was up to Tuks to start leading the game. The young kats came up victorious after Benedict’s five 3pointers and Chilu Chani’s dunk on Vusi Dlamini. The oldies held their game down but fitness and experience couldn’t win them the game. Tuks won the game hands down with the final score being 96-86.

Basketball has a lot of talent that goes unseen and a family should be build, so the game can grow.

Victor asked her to help out by sending through some reports on the Tuks basketball team, but Nthabiseng didn't stop there and soon became a star reporter on Mzansi basketball.
