Invitation for Gauteng Trials

Please make available your players for trials for the Gauteng Senior squad ­taking place at the UJ outdoor courts on Bunting Road. The trials will start at 9 am on November 13 and players are requested to be in time. The trials are in preparation for the Senior Provincial tournament in Cape Town from 13 to 18 December 2010. The Article Basketball South Africa Make your own conclusion has without a doubt stirred some real debate I’ve not see in a while.  Worst of all, I feel that there has been more frustrations from the people but with little ideas of how to move forward without hurting the game of basketball.  I thought of just responding to the article as one of the comments but I believe my response should be in a form of an article as this is a very critical issue to address. After months of deliberations, it was concluded by the directors that Pro Sport is willing to resume running basketball in Gauteng and possibly nationally, pending permits and talks with the higher powers. With the successful delivery of the FIFA 2010 World Cup, it is clear that sport in South Africa can contribute to the economy of this country and basketball is no exception. We believe that everyone in the world of basketball should find their playing field and make their involvement worthwhile for themselves for whatever reason they see fit. Continue reading »

Gauteng Basketball ELECTIVE AGM 2010 NOTICE

At the GBA AGM held on 30 May 2010 at the Holy Family College a decision was taken to postpone elections to 13 June 2010. The Gauteng Basketball Interim Committee hereby announces an Elective AGM for the Gauteng Basketball Association.

The Proposed GBA models will be presented and ratified by the registered members in attendance at the upcoming GBA AGM. Anyone who has an interest in these proceedings is invited to attend, however to participation in the proceedings is open only to registered and paid up members.

On a chilly Sunday morning, 30 May 2010, the Gauteng Basketball Association (“GBA”) held its Annual General Meeting for 2010 at Holy Family College in Johannesburg.

Opening address

As Chairman of the meeting and part of the GBA’s Interim Executive, Ntatho Selebi set out the mandate that the Interim Executive had been tasked with, covering the ongoing activities of Gauteng basketball, dealing with pending senior national events at the time and defining possible structures for the office going forward.

GBA Goes Ahead with AGM on May 30th

gbaAfter a disappointing turnout at the Johannesburg leg of the GBA Roadshow and a failure to secure a venue for the Pretoria leg of the roadshow, the GBA executive is looking to ensuring the success of the AGM on 30 May 2010.

Members of the basketball community are invited to register at the AGM on May 30th at Holy Family College in Parktown, Johannesburg.

gbaGBA is preparing for their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 30th, 2010, when the GBA Council will meet to vote in the executive leadership for 2010 – 2012.

Leading up to the AGM, the Interim GBA Executive will be touring Gauteng to register Members and circulate the draft Constitution, Vision, Values and new GBA Model to be formalised by the GBA Council. Travelling with the Interim Exec, the U18 Team GBA squads will be playing exhibition games at these events. Continue reading »
