MVBC Summer 2011 League

To say it’s hot in the Western Cape would be an understatement. With temperatures going up to 40 degrees in some areas, the region has experienced extreme temperatures and forced people to rush to the beaches in droves. While the majority were catching the waves, basketball players were making waves of their own in the Summer League hosted by Montana Vikings Basketball Club by trying to get in shape for the upcoming season.

With the League going into its third week, there is a mixture of fun and intensity with some games being close affairs and others blow outs but with the aim of the league to develop officials and aspiring players… So far the Montana Vikings Men 2 team is setting the pace with an unbeaten run… Continue reading »

    USSA Western Cape is proud to bring you the 2010 USSA qualifiers. Having spent two exciting years coaching in the GBL, I was convinced that it doesn’t get better than GBL…..well I don’t think so but only time will tell. Having been part of the opening day of the USSA qualifiers,the first thing that just hits one in the face is the numerous fans at the game.     KZN and Limpopo rule the court at 2009 IPTs

    IPTs09CHRISTMAS came early for the province of Kwazulu-Natal after hosting such a successful tournament and the men’s team being crowned as the new champions of the Basketball South Africa Senior Championship, last Friday at Durban University of Technology in Durban.

    The KZN men’s team won this tournament after battling it out with Limpopo in the finals that was packed at the Varsity by 64- 55.  At first it seemed as if the home team was going to lose this match as at some stage Limpopo were trailing by 31-29 end of the first half.  But with the KZN boys fully understanding that leading doesn’t mean you have won and that it not about how you start that matters but how you finish, this saw them coming back in hot form to clinch this victory.
