The discussion surronding the appointment of a senior coach is rather interesting. Its level required a basic research of this seemingly strange phenomenon. For the purposes of making women coaches look good over a long term, I believe this is a good move.

The US is coached by one Anne Donovan. She has a good history of serving as assistant to a few gentlemen. She is now assisted by two and one woman. But that composition has been prevalent even in the WNBA. These people are developing women by having them as assistants. Then they take over. Currently 6 teams out of 13 have women as head coaches in that league. It is more interesting that there are not more than 17 women assistants in that league.

It is amazing how this system of developing women coaches is bearing fruit. It is actually quite good, impressive.

That is just one outstanding example. I have a few which testify to what has been decided.

    Hey Everyone,

Compliments for the new year. Coach Molupe, I will make the teams available as and when I get them, that includes the National teams.

I hope that everyone had a good december and that we make 2009 a great year for basketball in SA…. Like my friend darren put it, it’s actually 2000 and Nike (JUST DO IT).

All the best and keep the debates flowing because it makes for interesting reading.

    ciao,V

    Coach Molupe

Greetings.Well, what can I say about the tournament?!?!When you playing a game and start encouraging your boys not to get 100 against them…,then you know things are tough. The dynamics of team sport is how do you recover when 5 of your players pull out of a team and then replace them with someone who is 3 levels below that player.

I was proud of my boys though cos they tried hard. Most of them were not used to playing man defence,Good man defence and atleast I hope they will go back to their clubs and continue playing man.We played Zone and got 34 in the 1st Quarter and then decided to stop that.First tournament as Men Senior Coach was tough but will get up and keep trying.CUT will aim to improve this year as GBL is bigger and better.FS will definately improve in position and in performance.

Hope you and coach mandla all the best for the year. You missed out man, hope you will be there this year.
