KZNBA is proud to announce that it will be hosting the annual Basketball SA Senior Championships to be held from the 14th – 18th Dec 09. These exciting games will be held at DUT – Durban University of Technology ( Steve Biko Campus). The final will be held on the 18th Dec at the Victoria Mxenge Sports Centre in Umlazi (D Section – next to the soccer stadium).

The participating teams are as follow:

  1. Kwazulu Natal
  2. Western Cape
  3. Free State

The tournament will be attracting the best players in South Africa and some that have represented the National team oversees in big tournaments. The teams will be represented by both the ladies and men. The most interesting games will be the games between Gauteng and KZN as they have been arch rivals for years. The Gauteng team, both ladies and men are the reigning champions of 2008. It will be interesting to see the turn of events. We can’t leave out the other teams that are coming up strong e.g. Western Cape, Limpopo and Free State. These teams have shown over the years that there are capable of winning the championship. Now, that is something also to look forward too.

The tournament is used to scout out for new talent that will eventually represent the South African National Basketball teams to represent the country at an international level such as the FIBA Championships.

Entrance is free! The will be entertainment through out the tournament everyday and giveaways from DSTV. There will be shoot out and dunking competitions!

We are proud to announce the sponsors that are board:

  1. Thekwini Municipality
  2. KZN Department of Sports and Recreation

  4. DSTV
  5. Coca Cola

We would like to urge people to come in numbers as it will be an exciting tournament especially kids as it would be a good opportunity for them to see some of their favorite  players they inspire to be like one day.

In 2007 after getting frustrated at the lack of information about the game he loved in South Africa, Victor decided to start Mybasketball and he hasn't looked back. For close to 15 years, Victor has experienced the game as a player, a coach, a spectator and now from a media perspective. The whole purpose of Mybasketball is to keep the fans informed about the game and anything related to it; whether it is here in SA, Africa or Overseas. Victor has made some great friends along the way and rekindled some amazing friendships through the game.. Some of those friends have joined him on this crusade to make basketball better for everyone, and he looks forward to a South Africa where basketball gets the credit it deserves and the focus is on youth development and improving the coaches.
